If your users are in Active Directory and you cannot use Windows authentication (e.g. in an Internet scenario), consider using username authentication. When using username authentication your users will be mapped to a Windows account by default. By using username authentication with Windows accounts you benefit from a unified identity store, centralized account administration, and enforceable account and password policies.
